Czech table hockey tournaments no longer need paper for
recording results since the start of the 2023/2024 season. We were not the first to make this change; we just follow the path set by others.
We have always preferred to use our own software solution for table hockey tournaments. So, once again, we are using our own live solution. The
advantage of this approach is that everybody can use their own mobile phone to record their results.
We have an Android application, and there is also web access available for those with non-Android devices. The link for web access will be provided during the week before the tournament on the tournament website.
At the same time, there is an option to enter results using a shared tablet
at each tournament group. We have a tablet for each group so that anybody can record their results this way. But if you have a mobile phone and prefer
to record your results in your own private bubble, not dancing with other players round the table with the tablet, you are welcome to use your own mobile phone at our tournaments!
Android Application
Where to begin
First you need to install the application on your Android device. The download link will be published during the week before the tournament on the tournament webpage.
The application can be installed by directly downloading it from our
webpage. Before doing so, you need to approve on your Android device that you trust
the download source and the application author. The author is Vladimír Kraus, the former ITHF president, so you are welcome to trust.
After running the application, you can switch the language to English by tapping the top-right area with the 3 dots.
(click the images to see the full size!)
Settings
After tapping the 3 dots area, the settings panel appears at
the bottom. You can find the option to switch the language to ENG at the very bottom-right corner.
The other settings allow you to set the preferred visual style (the dark theme MineShaft is used in this description). The next settings are useful for adjusting the list of matches to fit the display of your device: you can change the row height, font size, as well as the cell widths.
Opening the tournament
The organizers announce the Tournament Code before the tournament starts. This code is needed to use the application at the tournament.
After entering the tournament code, you should be able to find your name on the list
of players. If you cannot find your name on the list, just wait a bit
and then tap the refresh button. You might have been too fast, and the list of players might not have been available yet for the tournament.
List of players
Tap the combo box area to view the list of all players at the tournament.
Please find your name on this alphabetically ordered list.
If you cannot find your name, please contact the organizers as soon as possible. Maybe you were not registered properly at the tournament...
You are almost there!
After selecting your name from the players list, you are ready to tap the enter button.
Your tournament starts here
Once you have entered the tournament, you will find the tournament menu on the opening page.
Tap the My Matches option to record or check your results and see your next schedule.
The option Matches displays all matches in the currently active group.
The last option is Group Ranking.
There is also a list of groups with your participation (e.g. Group 5 in the
picture). The list will also include the final group and play-off later
during the tournament.
Other groups?
The list of groups can be hidden or filtered by two options at the bottom.
If you have enough time during the tournament to check the situation in other groups, this is how you can access them.
Your world
The option My Matches brings you into your private world.
All your matches in the active tournament group are listed here.
Each row displays the game number on the left. The opening page of the application previously informed you that the 1st player plays with SWE figures while the 2nd player with CAN figures.
The dashed line marks a break.
You can use the top-right 3 dots button to set the font as well as row and cell size to view the matches in the best possible way for your device.
New result
By tapping a match in the list of matches, you can record the result of the match.
You can tap the buttons MINUS / PLUS on the left / right side. Or you
can tap the number and the virtual keyboard appears (which is useful
when recording memories rich in goals).
Use the OK button to submit the new result. If you don't want to change anything,
please tap the X button. If you wish to erase a previously entered result, please tap the bin icon.
Your result
After entering the result, the winner is highlighted by a different color.
If there is a tie, no player name is highlighted.
Results
After submitting the result, the list of matches is updated.
And you personal balance is recalculated with the new result, which you can check at the bottom panel.
Another result
... and tapping more and more as the rounds of tournament go by ...
Group ranking
Group ranking is updated after each result is submitted. So it is always up-to-date.
The ranking is not available during the last rounds of each group. This is in accordance with the tournament rules.
Another player
You can tap any player's name in the ranking. Then you can see the matches of the selected player.
The same list of matches is also accessible from the page when entering a result using the buttons P1 / P2 at the bottom panel.
Selected round
Tap the Matches button to view all matches scheduled for the selected round.
This display mode is active on the shared tablets in
each group. You can always tap the REFRESH button (at the bottom-left
area) to ensure that results entered on another device are visible here.
To move to the next/previous round, please use the button on the bottom panel.
If the button with the !!! symbol is visible, then results are missing from previous rounds of the active group. You can tap this !!! button to see the missing results.
